Here we are!

It's been a while since last time I wrote on here, but you know, summer was a really busy period for me, many races, work and travels!
World Cup KZ1, World Championship KF1, last rounds of WSK, it has been a really good time and the results confirmed what we showed for all the season.
Just a bit of sorrow for what happened at ther World Champ in La Conca, we were extremely fast, but a series of unlucky events compromitted the entrance to the final... Anyway last race i made, the final round of WSK in Zuera, was pretty good.
I finished 3rd at only 0'200 from the winner, it has really been like a cycling sprint! And after a long race also, it was the first time ever to race in the distance of 35Km! It hah been really exciting.

So what's next?
In a few weeks we will flight to Macau, for the grand final of the season, the Asia-Pacific Championship. I've almost won it last year, and this time I'll do my best to go for it. This year there will be also many other opponent, because in 2009 the World Championship will be there, so it's kind of a test of what we have to expect next year...

Another big news is that in 2009 you will find a totally brand new site, with many sections and really good to watch, but I don't say nothing more, you will see!

Stay in touch and keep supporting!

KOSMIC ON THE EUROPEAN PODIUM WITH BRESSAN

The Kosmic Racing Department gained the second position in KF1 in the European Championship in Mariembourg, Belgium.
Alessandro Bressan, driving a perfect kart during the whole week-end, reached a well-deserved second position in race-1 in Mariembourg. Our driver started from the second line, he played for a time, waiting for a favourable opportunity, in fact he stayed behind the French driver Convers and then he launched the winning attack.
The win was gained by the champion in charge Marco Ardigò.

WSK 3° Round - Lonato (IT)

On Sunday the third race of the WSK Championship was unlucky for the Kosmic Kart Racing. The race didn’t come up to expectations. Both drivers couldn’t reach a great result in the qualifying so in the heats they were forced to recover positions.
In spite of this the material worked well and both KF1 drivers, Bollingtoft and Bressan, could start from good positions in final 1.
On this Sunday, characterized by numerous contacts in the KF1 Category, our Niko Bollingtoft and Alessandro Bressan were also involved in some accidents and contacts.
Unfortunately Alessandro was involved in a serious accident due to a contact with the Bitish Parrot, and the doctors had to intervene. Luckily Alessandro had only a great fright and some contusions.
However at the end of the race Bollingtoft gained some precious points arriving fifth and recovering positions in the general rating. Our team is still in the first positions of the Eurocup rating, reserved to KF1 teams, actually we are third, so we can aim at the podium in this second half of the Championsip.
In the other categories, KF2 and KF3, our young drivers worked hard with the team, gaining more experience and doing several tests and kilometres.
Everyone worked in an excellent way, showing great improvements already in this phase of the season.
Mariembourg is a very important test for them, being just before the qualifying for the European final.

Olivier Marechall Kosmic Kart Racing Departement Team Manager
“We are not really satisfied with the race in Lonato, however we are not worried because now there are three important events: Suzuka (World Cup), Mariembourg (WSK) and the second race of the European Championship. These are all important races and we have a good technical material and two motivated drivers. From outside it is not possible to completely understand the technical potential of the team, it is necessary to be patient…”

Alessandro Bressan - Kosmic Kart Racing Departement driver, KF1
“I have to forget this day, especially my accident. After the “parc fermè”, I overtook Parrot. We were side by side in the other bend on the right, then we had a contact.
He went outwards and touched the front of my kart, making my kart completely uncontrollable. So I crashed into the protective barrier, my stomach hit against the wheel and…fortunately everything went well…now I’m already thinking about the next race in Japan, I don’t have any problem, I’m really looking forward to coming back on the track.”

European Championship KF1 1° Round - Angerville (FR)

The first round of the European Championship, which took place in Angerville, was not really lucky for the Kosmic Team.
Both drivers, Bressan and Bollingtoft had some problems during the different rounds so in the final they started from the back lines.
The first European race has been characterized by the new starting system with speed limit to 40 Km/h, this procedure created some difficulties to the drivers, especially to those who started from the first line.

Bollingtoft, involved in a double accident during the preliminary rounds, was forced to race in the repechage . In final-1 our Danish driver recovered some positions during both finals, on a track where it is not easy to overcome because there are only a few points where it is possible to do it.
In final-2 Niko arrived 12th, gaining points and proving that the kart worked in a perfect way.
Also Alessandro Bressan raced trying to recover positions, in fact he was penalized in one of the rounds after having had a problem (with the water pump). In race-1 our Italian driver reached the 15th position but, unfortunately, in race-2 he had a contact and was thrown of the track. This way Bressan lost the possibility to gain points for the Championship.
The newness of this first international race, as already said, consists in the introduction of the new starting system with speed limit. The drivers, in fact, from this race and for all the CIK-FIA competitions, had to go along the straight stretch, during the starting phase, with a speed between 30 and 40 Km/h.
The speed is measured though a laser system and reported on a display placed above the starting line. This new system caused several problems to some drivers in the first line, both during the preliminary rounds and the race.
The European Championship has just finished and the next WSK race is around the corner, our Team is in second position in the prestigious KF1 category, in which we are doing extremely well.
On the track in Lonato, well known by our drivers, we intend to forget the unlucky race of last Sunday in Angerville.

Olivier Marechall - Kosmic Kart Racing Departement, Team Manager
“This week-end in Angerville hasn’t been really positive due to some factors having nothing to do with the material. For this reason I’m calm and I know that next week, in Lonato, we can repeat the great performances we have had until now.”

Alessandro Bressan - Kosmic Kart Racing Departement driver, KF1

“Let’s forget the first race of the European, it was a little bit unlucky and we are already looking forward to the next WSK race, moreover we will race on our track, we know it well…I think that in Lonato we will be competitive again. In the first race of the European Championship we had, above all, bad luck, on a track where it is impossible to overtake. I’m confident for the WSK.”

WSK 2° Round - Angerville (FR)

In the second race of the WSK Series, in spite of the difficult and uncertain weather conditions, our team confirmed the material competitiveness. Bressan gained a fantastic second position in the prefinal starting from the first line in the super final. In the final the weather conditions were terrible and caused extremely difficult situations, in spite of this, Bollingtoft reached a great seventh position, starting from the back of the line-up and Bressan arrived ninth. We gained further important points for our drivers and for the team, in both ratings, team and driver, we are always protagonists.
After a careful analysis of the performances during the race week-end, our technical staff stated that the only thing missing was more determination, which would be useful in order to have even better performances in the qualifying lap.
In the race our karts were extremely competitive and during the several rounds we had always better performances, in fact Bressan reached a second position and the second line in the pre-final.

Unfortunately in the pre-final an unexpected shower forced all drivers to start with slick tyres on a wet asphalt and the situation changed immediately.
In spite of this, Bressan gained important points for the championship and Bollingtoft did well until when he had to retire owing to a technical failure at the sixth lap.
The super final took place on a terrible track, it was raining and snowing at the beginning of the race, and with this kind of conditions Bollingtoft and Bressan made an exciting race, with Bollingtoft able to recover from the back of the line-up (28th position) to the 7th position. At the end of the race both drivers entered in the points zone, helping to consolidate the second position in the manufacturers rating, the Eurocup, however we are closed to the team leader: the Tony Kart Racing Team.
In anticipation of the first race of the European Championship the morale is high in the team, there is the awareness that, if we will find the dry track, both our drivers will be able to aim to the podium.

Olivier Marechall Kosmic Kart Racing Department Team Manager
“Races like this one in Angerville are a little bit special, particular, due to the weather conditions, and so it is a little bit difficult to make some considerations…in the end we always did well when the asphalt was dry and we were among the faster drivers, Alessandro arrived second in the pre-final and also Bollingtoft did good rounds.
In spite of the terrible weather conditions it is important that both drivers gained points allowing us to save our position in the manufacturers Championship rating.”

Alessandro Bressan - Kosmic Kart Racing Departement driver, KF1 category
“The race has been influenced by the weather conditions, but we were fast, we always had a good rhythm. In fact in the rounds I did well and in the prefinal, when the track wasn’t so wet, I was in second position.
In the final, instead, I made a mistake at the start and went out of the track. It was very difficult to stay in the track with that kind of weather conditions, I had to be very careful because, in every moment, there was the possibility to turn. Now I hope, in the next race, to drive with normal weather conditions, like in Muro Leccese, in that even we saw drivers’ value on the track.
In the races like this one is not possible to make this kind of considerations….in the end I resigned myself and thought only to points.”

WSK 1° Round - Muro Leccese (IT)

The WSK Series start was positive for the guys of the Kosmic Team. Alessandro Bressan reached the fourth position in KF1, but the race has been compromised by the incorrectness of a competitor, otherwise…
The well deserved fourth position gained by Bressan in the KF1 category doesn’t seem to be enough, the whole team has always worked hard and non stop to get both drivers to the top. Only some events denied Kosmic a podium which was undoubtedly within their reach.

Bollingtoft was stopped by a faulty gas cable, which delayed him when he has been involved in a brawl with Laine (Tony Kart-Vortex) and Convers (Pcr-Tm) for the seventh position.
Even more significant was the race of Alessandro Bressan, who, after standing out and leading the group in two rounds, was thrown out by De Brabander.
Alessandro, in the final, showed all his great driving skills and the high quality of his kart, he recovered and in the final part of the race he was on the verge of victory.
In our opinion, this result is within our reach, considering what we showed off so far in all the races.
In KF2 and KF3, this was the track the drivers feared the most and all of them did important tests in view of next events. KF2 drivers won’t take part in the 2nd Round of WSK in Angerville, but will come down to the track in Lonato for the following race, Kosmic drivers know this track definitively better.

Olivier Marechall Team Manager Kosmic Kart Racing Departement
“I am satisfied, even if I expected to reach the podium. I think that the hard work we carried out is repaying us, I am confident we can soon celebrate a great result.”

Alessandro Bressan - driver Kosmic Kart Racing Departement KF1 category
“The race was undoubtedly positive, we had only a little problem with the set-up in the first phase of free practices. Once we solved this inconvenient, the kart behave perfectly.
I did good rounds centring a second and fifth place and I expected to do excellent races.
As the prefinal started, I unfortunately had a contact delaying me, I waited some laps to clean my tyres and I gathered my pace again, starting to make great recoveries. When I reached De Brabander, I had some problems, as everyone had with him…
In the final, although I didn’t start in front, due to someone else’s incorrectness, I managed to recover in a good way, I overtook and I was about to gain the podium. In spite of my recovery at the end of the race, my tyres were in optimal condition.
All the team carried out a fantastic work and the result doesn’t perfectly reward us, we are sure we could have done even more…”

William Benedetti - driver Kosmic Kart Racing Departement KF2 category

“I am not really used to do this kind of races and I am learning a lot on these occasions. I didn’t know well this track and this was a good test for me. The material is perfect and the team is fantastic, so I am confident I will get great results in next races.”

Great 2° place at Margutti

Great weekend for me and all the Kosmic Team.
We've been really competitive from the beginning, even if the weather changed really lot of times.
Qualifying session saw me take the 5th place, after it started rain so the manches were in wet conditions.
We were pretty good in any condition, rain or dry, and I demonstrated it gaining a 4th and a 2nd place in the two heats.
In semifinal I started 3rd and followed the leader Catt in a race run like a qualifying session.
In final the start was a little difficult 'cause the external starting line, and the initial bagarre permitted Catt to run away from the group. I fell in 5th position, but the kart was really good and I started a series of good overtakes, witch I enjoyed much and also the public, that granted me the 2nd place.
All the team worked really well, a big thanks to them for this important result.
